Lindsay Halm in the Seattle Times - Group of bikini baristas win nearly $2M in legal battle

SGB attorney Lindsay Halm is featured in a Seattle Times article on more than $1.8 million secured for a class of bikini baristas who alleged years of wage and workplace violations at five local coffee stands.

The case was brought by former barista Eilish Hoffman and later granted class-action status, representing a total of 70 former baristas. The lawsuit alleged that between 2021 and 2024, owner Alan Tagle failed to properly track employees’ hours, denied required sick leave, restricted baristas’ ability to work at competing stands and paid some workers $50 or less for a four-hour shift — below Washington’s minimum wage.

The Aug. 28 King County Superior Court order awarded the workers more than $1.8 million following a yearslong legal battle. SGB represented the baristas alongside the Working Washington Rights Center, formerly known as the Fair Work Center.
