Sergio represents individuals and families who have suffered serious injuries, wrongful death, sexual abuse, and other devastating harms. He is committed to helping survivors obtain justice while holding individuals, corporations, and government entities accountable. Whether advocating for victims of catastrophic injuries, wrongful death, sexual violence, or institutional misconduct, Sergio is a fierce and dedicated advocate for his clients.
Sergio takes a client-centered approach to every case. He works to earn his clients’ trust, understand their stories, and develop compelling cases through meticulous investigation, preparation, and advocacy. His tenacious approach has resulted in many successful outcomes for his clients. Sergio has recovered millions of dollars on behalf of clients in cases involving catastrophic injuries, wrongful death, sexual abuse, medical negligence, and institutional misconduct.
Sergio’s commitment to justice began at an early age. He spent much of his childhood living throughout Africa and Latin America, where he witnessed firsthand the effects of civil conflict, inequality, and poverty. He spent summers in Mexico learning about his family’s cultural traditions.
He moved to the Seattle area for high school, then attended college in Washington, D.C., where he studied human rights. During law school, Sergio advocated for farmworker rights with Columbia Legal Services and clerked for the Inter-American Court of Human Rights in Costa Rica as well as the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Washington.
As a proud Mexican American, Sergio is fluent in Spanish and regularly represents Spanish-speaking clients throughout Washington. He has dedicated hundreds of volunteer hours to advancing access to justice through legal clinics, community presentations, know-your-rights workshops, and advocacy efforts focused on expanding access to justice for Latino communities.
Sergio currently serves as President of the Latina/o Bar Association of Washington (LBAW) and as a member of the Board of Directors of Columbia Legal Services (CLS). Through his leadership and volunteer work, Sergio advocates for greater access to justice, diversity within the legal profession, and stronger support for underserved communities throughout Washington.
Sergio is a frequent speaker on access-to-justice issues, diversity in the legal profession, and civil litigation. He has presented for bar associations, law schools, and community organizations throughout Washington and is actively involved in mentoring future lawyers and supporting initiatives that expand access to legal services.
Outside of work, Sergio enjoys playing guitar, practicing yoga, birding, listening to Mexican ranchera music, cooking, and traveling.

Personal Injury Representation and Guidance
Dealing with adverse insurance companies can be very daunting and overwhelming. Before seeking advice from Sergio, I felt as if my case did not stand a chance. Sergio took the time to carefully listen to not only the facts of the incident but also how I felt about the whole situation. He was very accommodating and thoroughly explained my rights to me, while also detailing what legal remedies were available. He gave me a list of suggestions, but ultimately enabled me to make the final decision. I do not wish any personal injury cases on anybody, but if such an incident occurs, I highly recommend Sergio.
