Kyle Wood has dedicated his career to advocating for vulnerable people, including victims and survivors of human trafficking, crimes against humanity, and genocide. He brings significant experience in international litigation and deep expertise in investigating and prosecuting complex cases. His practice focuses on personal injury, wrongful death, and product liability.
Prior to joining SGB, Kyle served in Washington’s Office of the Attorney General, leading Attorney General Bob Ferguson’s fight to end human trafficking and the commercial sexual exploitation of children in Washington. He litigated human trafficking and other criminal and civil cases throughout the state, and he successfully advocated for victim-centered, trauma-informed policy changes to help survivors of human trafficking in Washington, including by testifying on behalf of the Attorney General before the Washington State Legislature.
Kyle also served as an international criminal prosecutor at a United Nations court in The Hague, Netherlands. He successfully prosecuted and defended on appeal convictions for genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, and grave breaches of the Geneva Conventions in major yearslong multidefendant mass atrocity cases arising from the breakup of the former Yugoslavia. Since then, he has helped litigate international criminal appellate cases, supported crimes against humanity prosecutions in national jurisdictions around the world, and investigated allegations of mass atrocity in the field, all in the pursuit of justice in the name of victims and survivors everywhere.
Kyle’s advocacy extends far beyond the courtroom. He volunteers his legal services pro bono to Kids in Need of Defense, a global organization devoted to protecting unaccompanied and separated children, is an on-call disaster responder for the American Red Cross, and volunteers for an international organization to observe and monitor elections in Europe and Asia. He is an affiliate instructor at the University of Washington School of Law, and regularly helps train investigators around the world on best practices for the documentation of atrocity crimes committed in their countries.
