Ben represents individuals and families harmed by powerful institutions, government agencies, medical providers, and perpetrators who abuse positions of trust. His work is grounded in a longstanding commitment to standing up for people harmed by systems that were supposed to protect them and pursuing meaningful accountability through the legal system. Known for combining meticulous preparation with an approachable, down-to-earth style, he has built a reputation as a strategic trial lawyer who connects with juries and clients alike.
With more than fifteen years as a trial attorney, Ben’s practice focuses on complex civil litigation involving civil rights violations, medical negligence, wrongful death, catastrophic injury, sexual abuse, assault, and harassment, and human trafficking.
He currently represents more than thirty-five survivors in a high-profile civil rights and institutional negligence lawsuit involving allegations that a physician at a youth detention facility sexually abused youth under the guise of legitimate medical treatment over the course of decades.
Before joining Schroeter Goldmark & Bender, Ben served as a Senior Deputy Prosecuting Attorney with the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, where he prosecuted some of the office’s most serious and complex crimes, including child sexual abuse, sexual assault, domestic violence, homicide, and sex trafficking. He successfully tried more than sixty cases to verdict.
He also directed the King County Prosecutor’s Office anti-human trafficking response, leading prosecution strategy, policy initiatives, and multidisciplinary collaborations focused on prevention, victim advocacy, and systemic reform.
Ben continues to advocate for trafficking survivors, using his expertise to improve legislative and systemic responses and provide training and awareness to stakeholders nationwide. He currently serves as Board Chair for Everstrong, an anti-trafficking organization focused on prevention education and survivor support.
A Seattle native, Ben enjoys coaching his kids’ youth sports teams and spending time in the mountains with his family.

Highly Recommend and Gets Results
Ben exceeded all expectations in my case from the beginning. His calming and supportive approach with my family and me was extremely helpful during stressful times. His knowledge and ability to represent with class and integrity was top-notch. He cared about making things right and knew how to execute that plan. He was always available to talk when needed and a great communicator. I would highly recommend Ben and would certainly use again if ever needed.
