Washington State’s Governor Ferguson Appoints SGB Attorney Elizabeth Hanley to Tort Study Committee
SEATTLE – Schroeter Goldmark & Bender (SGB) is proud to announce that attorney Elizabeth Hanley has been appointed by Governor Bob Ferguson to Washington’s Tort Study Committee. The committee’s purpose is to examine the state’s civil justice system and provide recommendations to state leaders that center the people and promote an efficient and transparent government.
Hanley brings extensive leadership experience to the committee, having previously served as the president of the Washington State Association for Justice, and currently serving on the AAJ Board of Governors, which follows her election as secretary of the AAJ Council of Presidents last year.
“I am honored to serve on the Tort Study Committee and contribute to this important work alongside Governor Ferguson,” Hanley said. “The civil justice system plays a critical role in protecting Washington residents, and I look forward to helping examine issues that impact access to justice across our state.”
Hanley’s appointment begins June 2026, and as part of her new role on this committee, she will have the opportunity to help shape the future of tort law in Washington.
“One of the great passions in my career has been finding new ways to help people in our community uplift their voices and utilize the systems in place to secure justice – this will only further that mission,” Hanley added.
