In April 2020, SGB’s co-counsel, the Mendez Law Firm, filed a class action lawsuit against Providence Health Services-Washington alleging that Providence failed to provide all legally required meal and rest breaks to nurses and technicians working in the emergency department at Providence Regional Medical Center-Everett and failed to fully compensate the employees for these missed breaks. On December 19, 2023, the court granted preliminary approval of a proposed class-wide settlement of the case. The court will hold a final approval hearing on April 5, 2024 at 11:15 am at the King County Superior Court, Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent, Washington.
