Ongoing Initiatives

SGB is committed to continually building an inclusive culture with ongoing supportive initiatives that reflect the shared values of colleagues, clients and community.

Continual Learning at SGB

SGB pursues opportunities for firm-wide training sessions that address unconscious bias and cultural competency. We're grateful to our thought-partners who continue to lead and challenge through this ongoing work.

Teams & Leaders equips people within organizations to be more aligned, collaborative, and engaged with customized leadership training designed to creatively encourage participants out of their comfortable patterns into new possibilities, perspectives, and behaviors. Northwest Center builds a disability-inclusive world for schools, businesses, and people, from cradle through career. It's mission promotes the growth, development, and independence of people with disabilities through programs of therapy, education, and work opportunity.
Cultures Connecting provides diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) workshops, keynotes, leadership coaching, and consulting services to organizations committed to racial justice, where all people recognize their role as change agents.  The Center Consultancy believes can be spaces of belonging, growth, and transformation. Their work at the intersections of equity, leadership, and organizational change envisions a world where workplaces are not barriers, but catalysts for equity and possibility.

Growth through Discussion

Monthly staff-led Grub and Grow education sessions provide an opportunity for discussions about current justice-oriented topics. Recent sessions have included:

  • Non-violent communication
  • The life and work of Suzanne Pharr, queer feminist and anti-racist organizer
  • Ecotourism's effect on local populations, wildlife and the natural environment

Building Equity Into Our Culture

We know that justice must begin within our own walls. We are committed to embedding equity into the systems that shape our culture. Some of the actions we’ve taken include:

  • Recruitment & Hiring: Adding equity-focused questions to our interview process and sharing questions with candidates in advance.

  • Onboarding & Training: Incorporating conflict resolution training as part of orientation.

  • Ongoing Dialogue: Hosting monthly equity team meetings with staff, attorneys, and shareholders.

  • Performance & Growth: Adding equity as a component in performance conversations.

  • Decision-Making: Forming cross-functional teams to ensure a diversity of voices.

  • Feedback & Learning: Conducting regular surveys and openly sharing themes from exit interviews.
